Technical Information
- The Silo is designed in accordance with BS449/5950 including wind loadings
- Welded mild steel construction (welded according to BS EN287 & BS EN288)
- Structural design calculations:
- The stresses in the silo are based on Janssen formula for deep circular bunkers and to Rankine's shallow bunker theory formulas.
- For the steelwork the reports are fully detailed to include loads, member details, reaction for the various load combinations for the civil engineers, the member verifications all in accordance with BS5950 2000 as per Robobat standard output and including 3dimensional images of the design
- Certified Drawings Including all technical data, interfaces etc.
- Operations and Maintenance Manual
- All equipment carrying CE Marking
- Silo & Ancillary equipment has a high design life 10 years+
- Method / Risk Assessments for Site Build
- Project Planning using Microsoft office project
Accessories
1. Vibrating Bin Activator
At times flowability of certain powders is so poor that discharge from silos assisted by flow aids like fluidisation pads, pneumatic hammers, hammer blasts or air cannons is impossible. In such cases a Bin Activator is the ultimate flow aid and extracting device for such materials.
Function
The Bin Activator is a device of tapered conical shape that due to vibration facilitates material flow from the silo. It consists of a seamless carbon or stainless steel cone manufactured on a sheet metal lathe, a seamless polymer seal with integrated upper and lower flange, suspensions for connection of the Bin Activator with the silo, as well as one or two electric vibrators. |

2. Roof Explosion Panel
The explosion vent is a high performance vent, constructed with a support frame with back-up bars for high vacuum conditions. Still an economical alternative, the explosion vent provides excellent service life for static to light pressure cycling conditions. |

3. Silo safety equipment including
Control panel
Fitted with: Door interlocked isolator
Pressure relief valve
- the pressure relief valve will respond to silo over-pressurisation exceeding 500 mm wg.
- when activated the fill pipe shut-off valve will close after 5 seconds
|
|
High level alarm with rotation sensor
- paddle type
- when activated the fill pipe shut-off valve will close after 10 seconds
- if rotation stops a warning will be displayed on control panel
Ultimate high level alarm
- paddle type
- when activated the fill pipe shut-off valve will close immediately
Over pressurisation gauge
- transducer displaying actual silo pressure at the tanker filling point
- when 1st set point is activated alarm sounds
- when 2nd set point is activated alarm sounds and closes the shut off valve after 5 seconds
Silo filling pipe automatic shut-off valve
- butterfly valve (normally closed)
Filter pressure gauge
- indicates the presents of compressed air at the filter
Audible alarm
- mounted adjacent to the filling pipe
Visual alarm
- flashing beacon mounted on control panel
Silo fill pipe connection
- mounted on the silo fill pipe with micro switch

4. Filtration System
SILOTOP is a cylindrically shaped dust collector for venting of pneumatically filled silos. The stainless steel body contains vertically mounted, POLYPLEAT filter elements. The air jet cleaning system is integrated in the hinged weather protection cover.
Function
Dust separated from the air flow by special POLYPLEAT® filter elements drops back into the silo after an integrated automatic reverse air jet cleaning system inside the weather protection cover has removed it from the filter elements. Originally designed for cement and similar materials, SILOTOP® can be used with any dust generating material as long as it is dry and does not pack under pressure. |
|
The silo can be built to the following Atex Dust Rattings
- Zone 20: An atmosphere where a cloud of combustible dust in the air is present frequently, continuously or for long periods.
- Zone 21: An atmosphere where a cloud of combustible dust in the air is likely to occur in normal operation occasionally.
- Zone 22: An atmosphere where a cloud of combustible dust in the air is not likely to occur in normal operation but, if it does occur, will persist for only a short period.
